The immediate countryside is excellent for walking and cycling.

With its hill forts, castles and visitor centres, the Clun Valley has attractions for people of all ages.

Nearby are the pretty and historical towns of Bishops Castle, Knighton and Presteigne.

The county town of Shrewsbury is within easy reach as is Ludlow - centre of gastronomic excellence.

Also within easy reach for a day visit are the Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth and the Ironbridge world heritage centre museums.

The Old Farmhouse adjoins The Hurst Estate, former home of playwright John Osborne, and now the Arvon Foundation. If you are on a writing course there and accommodation is not available, The Hurst is a short walk away from us.

Eating and drinking

Clun has two terrific pubs. The White Horse is a cask marque real ale pub. It has a restaurant with good home cooked food. There are regular live music and folk music sessions.

The Sun also serves real ale and good food.
